First Year Residential Experience

The First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is a program designed to ease freshmen into college life by offering a variety of residentially based programs, activities, and support for the first year resident.

You will live with and around other first year students in the halls and your RA will be working with you and other first year students to assist in making a smooth transition to campus life. You will have access to special programming on a variety of topics and your RA will be a source of information about those programs as well as being a resource in other ways.

You do not have to apply to participate, but your application will help the Residence Life Office keep track of residents interested in specific programming opportunities. Everyone who applies will be contacted as programs of interest are scheduled.

The FYRE Program is free to all first year students living in campus housing.

Participation in FYRE Program events is completely voluntary. It is our goal to provide programs that our students will be interested in attending and that will be beneficial to you as a first year resident.

Applications and interviews for RA positions will be available in the fall and spring. Look for announcements and signs in your building and check the Residence Life web page and MyCampus for important dates.

The FYRE program works with the Center for Academic Excellence to bring tutoring to residential buildings. Ask your RA for a tutoring schedule.
