The UMHB Men’s Basketball team hosted ASC rivals Howard Payne University on Saturday afternoon for their only conference game of the week, with the Crusaders entering the weekend sitting in fifth place in the ASC standings.
The Cru came out of the gates firing on all cylinders and never looked back, taking a staggering 21 point lead in the first 10 minutes of the game en route to a convincing wire-to-wire win over the Buzzsaws. The Cru were led by the three pronged attack of senior guard Josiah Johnson, junior guard Eli Beard, and sophomore guard Josh Goings, with the trio combining to score 62 of the Cru’s 86 points.
Their latest win sees the Crusaders improve to 6-6 in conference play on the season, leaving the Cru still in fifth place in the ASC standings. The Cru will hit the road again as they travel to Richardson to take on UT Dallas for the first game of a two game road trip on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
