Welcome week is not just a special time for our incoming Crusaders, but for the students
returning to Belton as well. It is a chance for upperclassmen to serve and reach out to their
fellow students, and introduce them to our beautiful campus. From move-in day to the rallies
and the games, there are a lot of core memories and experiences to be had for all Crusaders.
Avery Collins, a junior Elementary Education major who assisted incoming freshmen and their
families during move-in day spoke on the impact of Welcome Week, “Welcome week is so
special to me because of the welcoming environment that it creates for new students. I
remember being so nervous, but excited to come to UMHB and having all the cheering and
smiling faces really made an impact on me. I have been a color leader the past two years
because I love welcoming new students and being that smiling face they get to see when they
arrive!I am super excited for Kickoff, Spirits and Traditions, and Dubbing!”
Will Kalfayan, a senior Journalism major who also assisted during move-in day, also commented
on the importance of move-in day, “This day is special to me because of the different stories and
cultures entering our home, and they are choosing to make UMHB their home as well. They
(incoming students) are another addition to our great big Christ-centered family.”
With the conclusion of move-ins on Wednesday morning, Welcome Week will continue through
Sunday night, concluding with the Dubbing ceremonies in Crusader Stadium at 8:45 p.m.
