The Crusaders’ Men’s and Women’s soccer teams hosted their first scrimmages of the season over the weekend, with the Women’s team welcoming Navarro Community College to Belton on Friday night, while the Men’s team hosted Blinn Community College Saturday evening.
The Crusaders would suffer a pair of defeats to their JUCO opponents, as the Women’s team fell to Navarro 2-0, while the men fell 3-2 to Blinn.
With both teams experiencing a large amount of roster turnover, both teams used the scrimmages to experiment with multiple lineups and evaluate their personnel. Despite their unfortunate results, both teams created quality chances over the course of their respective games, and showed glimpses of the quality we have come to expect from these programs. Both teams will surely progress and regain their form from last season as they train and play more together, with both teams scheduled to participate in more scrimmages before beginning their official 2024 fall seasons.
The Women’s team will be back in action at the Cru Soccer Fields on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. when they host a Purple vs White intra-squad scrimmage, while the men will host Schreiner University on Aug.25 at 5:30 p.
