Today, August 7th, 2024, Students are moving into their new home here, at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Freshmen all over campus are hard at work trying to make their empty dorms look and feel like home, before heading out to start their welcome week experience. We spoke to one of those freshmen. Audrey Benfield, this morning about her move in is going.
“Move in has been really good. It’s going a lot smoother and easier than I expected,” Benfield stated.
Benfield and her roommate met online before coming to school as many incoming freshmen do now-a-days.
“I met her on the UMHB 2028 website,” Benfield said. “So I guess I did kind of know her ahead of time, but we didn’t know each other in high school or anything.”
We also asked her about welcome week and what she was most looking forward to in the next few days.
“I’m just excited to meet new people and start finding the connections and friends here that will (hopefully) last a lifetime,” said Benfield.
Lastly we asked what Benfield was most excited and most nervous for entering her first semester at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
“I’m really looking forward to starting a new chapter and growing up a little bit more,” Benfield stated. “I’m nervous about being away from home and the adjustment to this whole new life.”
These responses likely reflect on how most of the freshmen are feeling as they arrive on campus and the first day of classes looms nearer. However there is no need to worry because UMHB is happy to have all of these fresh faces and everyone is excited to help make them feel even more at home here.
