The Crusaders Women’s Soccer team continued their amazing run of form over the weekend as they picked up a trio of wins over Texas Lutheran University (TLU), the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and Trinity University.
Senior forward Mackenzie Worthy powered a dynamic UMHB attack, contributing two goals and an assist in the Crusaders’ 4-0 victory over TLU Friday night. Senior midfielder Ashley Vensel and junior midfielder Morgan Rathmell also contributed a goal each while junior goalkeepers Ainsley Westlake and Raegen Williams combined to keep the Cru’s fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Crusaders dominance carried over into their next match on Saturday night as they swiftly handled Stevens Point. Worthy continued her goal scoring run, converting from the penalty spot to bring her total up to five goals on the season. Sophomore forward Constance White and sophomore midfielder Jayme Dowell also found the back of the net as the Cru walked away with a comfortable 3-1 victory.
The Cru wrapped up their preseason when they traveled down to San Antonio to face Trinity University on Monday night, and walked out with yet another victory thanks to a lone goal from Vensel and another clean sheet from Williams.
The Crusaders will begin conference play when they host East Texas Baptist University at the Cru Soccer fields at 5 p.m Thursday afternoon.
