Avery Green is heavily involved in on-campus activities as well as being a current
UMHB graduate student pursuing her Doctorate of Education. But outside of the
classroom, she partakes in a plethora of other interesting jobs and activities.
Some of these things involve the Central Texas Public Relations Society of
America Chapter Board of Directors, Director of Communications for Rogers
Elementary School PTO Board and attending communication-focused conferences
every semester to network and further her knowledge. One thing that particularly sticks
out is working for her husband's family business, Green’s Sausage House.
Green’s Sausage House, located in East Temple, is a cafe, bakery and meat
counter that has been serving the community since 1946. Over the last 13 years, she
has handled all the public relations/promotional efforts for the business, manages the
social media presence and oversees community outreach efforts. Green states, “It's an
amazing opportunity to be able to take what I teach in my PR classes and apply it to
real-world situations.”
