The Crusader's season starts with a smashing success going a perfect 3-0 as well as not losing a set the entire weekend.
The Cru’s first match was Friday against Concordia College-Moorehead and saw them win 17-25, 15-25, and 18-25. Senior Hannah Frasca led the charge with a team-leading 11 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Harrington Kendall started her collegiate career off strong leading the team with 18 assists and four aces.
The next game was played a few hours later against Simpson College and again saw the Cru dominating, winning the sets 25-18, 25-17, and 25-16. Sophomore, Cameron Pesek, led the team with 9 kills. Harrington again led the team with an impressive 16 assists and senior Maddie Gilipsie led the team with 16 digs.
Their last game of the tournament was on Saturday and saw the Crusader face off against Schreiner College. Again the Crusaders took care of business winning 25-12, 25-21, and 25-23. This time Sophomore Dravyn Hurd led the team with 10 kills and Freshman Natalie Hughes led the team with an impressive eight blocks.
To open the season the Crusaders outscored their opponents 225-157 and saw them lead in points, kills, blocks, aces, digs, assists, and kill percentage in all three matches.
With an impressive start, the Crusaders hope to keep the momentum rolling with five away games this upcoming weekend.
