Belton, Texas – On Monday, March 23, the Mayborn College of Health Sciences at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor donated thousands of personal protective equipment (PPE) items to the Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital to help address the national shortage created by the coronavirus crisis.
Dr. Colin Wilborn, Executive Dean of the Mayborn College of Health Sciences, was contacted by representatives of the hospital last week to see if the university might have any PPE that it could share. He immediately reached out to other leaders within the college to determine what materials might be available to donate.
“They didn’t hesitate,” Wilborn said. “Their response was, ‘Anything we have, of course, they are welcome to it.’”
“We are going to contribute everything we can to help central Texas through this pandemic,” Wilborn said.
On Monday, Wilborn delivered roughly 2,000 masks, 350 gowns, 75 boxes of gloves, and 3 cases of hand sanitizer to the hospital. He says that the university is evaluating ways in which it might be able to provide additional support moving forward.
