Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Department of Music will host the 6th Annual Texas Guitar Conference Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16, on the UMHB campus. This conference brings together musicians from across the state and includes concerts, masterclasses, and solo and ensemble competitions for middle and high schoolers. All of these events are free and open to the public.
On Friday November 15, middle school performers will compete in both solo and ensemble competitions. The Texas Guitar Quartet will host a masterclass from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a special concert by the Texas Guitar Quartet. Then at 7:30 p.m. Les Freres Meduses, a classic guitar duo comprised of Benoît Albert and Randall Avers, will hold a concert.
On Saturday, October 31, high schoolers will participate in solo and ensemble competitions. Les Freres Meduses will host a masterclass from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a special concert by the Texas Guitar Quartet.
Both soloists and ensembles must register by Friday, November 8. Solo contestants will have the opportunity to win up to $500 in prizes.
