Belton, Texas – On Monday, April 2, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host a Stop the Bleed awareness event at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor lobby of the Bawcom Student Union. Stop the Bleed is a national initiative dedicated to saving lives through the training of potential bystanders. The event is free and open to the public.
The Stop the Bleed initiative was created in the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. Following the tragedy, senior leaders in the communities of medicine, law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire-rescue, and the military came together to develop policies that would improve victim survivability following similar attacks.
