Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor presented the 2016 Crusader Knights contest Saturday, February 20. Sawyer Richardson of Seguin (Mr. First Year Council) was named this year’s Mr. Crusader Knight.
This year’s theme was “Crusader Knights Live.” There were 21 contestants in total. Other finalists were: first runner up Trey Johnson of Buda representing Mr. Johnson Hall; second runner up Jonah Fox of Robinson representing Mr. Sophomore Class; third runner up Luke Adams of New Braunfels representing Mr. Cru for Life; fourth runner up Chaz Corder of Belton representing Mr. Senior Class; and fifth runner up Glen Fontenelle of Houston representing Mr. McLane Hall.
Crusader Knights began in 1993 as a fundraiser led by and for the Senior Class. Men are selected by campus organizations to compete for the title of “Mr. Crusader Knight.” The men are judged on their unique video skit, group dance, individual walk and ability to answer interview questions. The winner is dubbed Mr. Crusader Knight by the university president.
The director of this year’s contest is Kevin Bickling of Leander. His assistant directors are Kelley Clark of Brock, Taylor McClintock of Austin, and Brittany Read of Snyder.
