Freshman Honors Housing
As an honors student, you can live with and around other students in the honors program. Space has been designated as honors housing in McLane Hall (male residence hall) and Burt Hall (female residence hall). Learn more about these buildings and find a printable floor plan.
- Apply for housing on-line after being accepted for admission. You should receive an e-mail with your student ID number and a password from the Admissions Office. Pay the $300 enrollment deposit and complete the housing application. Contact the Residence Life Office if you have any problems with your application.
- Fill out the Honors Housing Interest Form by April 1. Because space is limited in the honors block in each building, the first 10 males and the first 20 females who submit a form will be assigned.
Placement in the honors block is not guaranteed but is based on availability of space.
The honors block is reserved for students in the honors program and your roommate will be another honors student. If all interested honors applicants have been assigned and there is space remaining in the honors block, other housing applicants may be assigned to this space.
Requesting a Roommate
On the interest form, you can name a preferred roommate. If that person is also an honors student and has submitted an interest form, you can be assigned together. If your preferred roommate is not in the honors program, they can only be assigned if there is space in the honors block. Your preferred roommate must submit a housing application and the date of their application should closely match yours. Assignment into preferred buildings is based on date of application and available space within the building.
Length of assignment is a full academic year. Honors students who do not wish to live in the honors block canalways can choose other residence hall options and request a preferred roommate.
