Welcome to the website of the Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Geology Department at UMHB! We offer the advantages of small classes alongside opportunities for chemical research. Our students have access to free tutoring, and undergraduate research – they can attend national scientific meetings and perform exciting chemical demonstrations in the community. Up-to-date labs with state-of-the-art instrumentation (Autoclave, Mass Spectrometer, Colorimeter, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Ultraviolet/Visible Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Magnetic Susceptibility Balance, Polarimeter, Refractometer, Refrigerated Centrifuge, and others) provide valuable hands-on experiences for future employment. Sigma Pi, the nationally recognized Student Affiliates group of the American Chemical Society, offers academic, social, and community service projects for students. These learning opportunities are enhanced by the Christian environment of UMHB. May God bless you in your studies and future endeavors!
