The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree is a post-baccalaureate degree that prepares graduates to enter the profession of physical therapy. The UMHB DPT program is a competitive-admissions 28-month program (7 semesters), and the first cohort began in Fall 2015.
The application deadline for Fall 2019 is January 15, 2019.
The DPT program will guide students from diverse backgrounds and cultural experiences to become doctorally prepared clinicians in physical therapy. Our curriculum will provide students with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and competence in professional practice, patient/client management, and practice management utilizing classroom, lab, and clinical experiences. Our program and faculty embody the values of UMHB as a Christian institution.
The mission of the program is to prepare individuals for service as Doctors of Physical Therapy who will collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, contribute to critical inquiry, and serve in leadership roles within the profession and the community. Consideration for addressing the needs of underserved communities in a global society will serve as a guiding principle for program faculty, staff, students, and graduates. The program will be offered in a Christian environment guided by faculty who teach and mentor with integrity, sensitivity and a commitment to excellence.
